Weds, a Farrier Grant and an Adopted Horse UPDATE

Today was a quiet and a short day at the rescue, we had some things to do in town this afternoon so we got the daily chores done early.

Some Super Great News: Shiloh's application for a $10,000.00 Farrier Grant from Petsmart Charities was accepted and approved!

As you can imagine with 140 horses, Farrier care is a big expense, even for just the normal hoof trims. We basically have a full time Farrier, as Osbaldo is at the rescue 3-4 days a week. This generous grant will be a great help to us- THANK YOU PETSMART CHARITIES! Big thanks also to my friend, and fellow horse rescuer, Jo Deibel of Angel Acres Horse Haven Rescue in PA- Jo organizes and helps to write grants for Shiloh and we appreciate her help so much!

Arson, Rugrat and Redondo are returning from the vet clinic this afternoon. I will post more about them in tomorrow's blog. We are especially happy to welcome Arson home!

Tomorrow morning five horses will be picked up for this month's vet testing in Las Vegas. It looks like Roy, Image, Tioga, Trace and Hoops will have a job for a few days.

Tioga was brought in from the Area 51 pasture for tomorrow's pick up. Here he greets cute Gringo in the Mare Motel.

We had another broken pipe last night which created "Lake Hospice". Sausage Patti enjoyed the mud...

Sally fills water buckets at the Duplexes while Inca supervises...

Sitka eats her Equine Senior in her outdoor run of her barn stall. She is wearing soft shipping boots to protect her legs when she lays down.

Serenity shared her Equine Senior with Jimmy Dean...

Donkey Otie eats his feed on the grass every morning.

ADOPTED HORSE UPDATE- CONVOY!

Convoy lives with his family in Pahrump, NV. Here he is on the left sharing some hay with his best pal.
Then, it's off for a gallop with some other friends!

He sure looks happy!

I love his Appy friend's markings. Convoy has a wonderful home and is loved and spoiled by a teenage girl. What more could we ask for?

Congrats on the grant! I've always wondered about your farrier (the poor guy! lol) Profile him sometime, would ya? That's fantastic, I had no idea there was such a thing as a farrier grant. Amazing. I'm always in awe of people who write grants. It takes talent!
Love the pig pics, as always. I just want to smooch them!

Great idea, Mikey. I will do a profile of our Farrier very soon! He is a great guy and we are very lucky to have him.

Also, I had meant to answer you before that yes, we do buy our Bute and other meds in bulk. Our vet orders it directly from the pharmacy who drop ships it to us. Sally and I are always walking around with a tube of Bute paste in our back pockets. :0)
