Sad news as Sanctuary Horse, America, passed away last night. About two months ago, we moved her into first Assisted Living and then the Gummies, because she was starting to fail a bit and she was losing weight and acting lethargic. We have been watching her closely over the past week- she never acted in pain but she was subdued and was losing her appetite. We had put a warm blanket on her and spent time with her. We knew her Shiloh Journey was coming to an end and we wanted her to be able to pass away at Shiloh and not have to be brought into the vet clinic. Last night she passed very naturally with absolutely no sign of a struggle. She passed in the Gummie Pen with her herd around her. America was with us at Shiloh for a little over a year, she had been dumped in the desert by her previous owners. She had a great life at Shiloh- she always lived in a pasture with herd mates and enjoyed her time lounging, eating and acting like a horse. Rest in Peace, America.

We have all been working very hard these past few days- getting our new shelters installed and getting everything ready for Halloween and Sunday's Clinic.

Our five new shelters were bought with our $3,000.00 EQUUS shelter grant and money raised from our beaded horseshoes. They are absolutley wonderful!

The new pasture has two of them...

The new pasture. Now we can really start using this pasture- we just cannot put horses in an area without access to shelter, so we have been waiting to use this pasture.
