Tuesday

I have to say, today was the hottest day so far- like an oven out there! But, that's what we get for starting a horse rescue in the desert! :o)

ROY UPDATE: Roy is staying in the clinic another few days, his catheter site is still really inflamed and swollen. We are playing it better safe than sorry, especially when there is a Jugular vein involved. Otherwise he is ready to come home...

Sanctuary Horse, Seemore is now in the Mare Motel being treated for a hoof abscess. Poor guy, but another thing we deal with out in the dry desert. He should be feeling better in a few days.

We welcome one of our new Shiloh Riders, Kelly. Kelly was riding with Elisa and is now an official Shiloh rider. She worked with Bombay, Broadway and Woody today.

We are still looking for some more riders, especially someone who likes to work with young horses, weanlings, yearlings, etc. They all need consistent handling to help them find homes. We are also looking for some riders who can help evaluate and exercise the adoptable horses. We pay $10.00 per ride. Back in the "old days", I rode and worked with all the horses personally. But with 140 in the rescue, I just don't have the time. We are hoping to go to another slaughter auction in a few weeks to save more horses, so we need the help. If you are interested in helping us out, please email Jill at shilohhorse@aol.com.

Here is Cortez guarding Salsa. Actually, we think Salsa is playing dead!

Area 51 this morning.

Kelly working with Bombay.

Sanctuary horse, Poker, had some fun in the turn out. He is currently in the Mare Motel for wound care.
The Rat Pack pasture.

Kelly working Woody in the round pen. We had given Woody some time off in the pastures for the last few months and we are starting his adoption evaluation now. He is going sound and just loves attention.

Abbey, Emily and Ashley (a new volunteer) washed Tanis.

Tanis loves being spoiled by girls!

Then Emily took him for a walk around the ranch. Tanis is Jill's 5 year old Friesian gelding.

Then it was Abbey's turn. It's hard to tell who enjoyed it more- the girls or Tanis!
