The Fallon Auction 2/21/09

We spent 10 hours at the Fallon, NV auction on Saturday, what a hard day. There were approx 200 horses at the sale, we saved 12 of them. It's such a difficult day being at the auction, on your feet all day, trying to pick horses you can save, trying not to see the horses we can't save. It's emotionally and physically exhausting. It took us 10 hours to drive home on Sunday, we were on the road bright and early...

Shiloh wants to thank the Fallon Livestock Company for providing hay for all of the horses and for being so accommodating to us Shiloh Girls. We appreciate that very much...

Overlooking the sale yard, so many horses...

It was a busy sale...

Sharil and Elisa grab a quick lunch in the Shiloh truck...

The Shiloh Girls!

This is Bombay, the pretty 3 year old OTTB mare. She was rescued for $500.00.

Elisa checks her out...

The Paint Stallion that we bought after the sale had ended. He was scheduled to ship to Slaughter this week. We bought him for $275.00.

Rocky Road, the 3 year old QH gelding. Very cute and broke to ride, bought for $225.00.

This is the Draft Appy mare, Black Feather (named for her ears), who was bought for $225.00. She has been used for riding and packing. She is approx 18 years old.

This is Scrappy, who was rescued with money from a scrapbooking club in Las Vegas. He was saved for $75.00. He is thin with horrible suspensory ligaments behind and a very atrophied hindquarter. But he is sweet and lively.

This is a 21 year old QH cross gelding who was used on a dude string, bought for $225.00.

This is Kerkorian, a thin 21-22 year old OTTB who was used on a dude string as well. We were told he earned over $200,000.00 on the track, we will be trying to run his tattoo to find out his story. We rescued him for $125.00.

The dark bay gelding who we bought for $300.00. He was very shy at the sale, but looks well broke. Just needs some TLC...

He stared at us as we went to load the four we took with us on to Shiloh. He wanted to come along. He will arrive at Shiloh this week...

Elisa and Kerkorian...

This is Domingo, a 2 year old Pony stud (very soon to be a gelding). What a cutie- this was Sally's favorite, of course. He was bought for $350.00.

This is Rugrat, an older Shetland pony mare who was bought for $300.00.

Home at Shiloh:

Kerkorian's condition...

Very thin...

Comfortable in a blanket with some hay.

Scrappy, notice his hind end.

He had one overgrown shoe on. Osbaldo removes the shoe and trims his feet...

Looking perky!

Poor guy...

Look at that, poor thing.

Blanketed and fed...
Rugrat!

Domingo! Two blue eyes...

The Pahrump Animal Control Horses:

Sally walks Capone... Capone is about 25 years old, very gentle, a bit frail, and a bit depressed. We will have him checked over by the vet within the next week.

We moved Capone into the barn for more protection and comfort.

He wanted to come inside the stall, but we don't think he has ever been in one and was a bit unsure. He tested it with his hoof first...

Then, he found the food!

Comfortable and safe at last!

Snafu, the Palomino gelding. He is approx 20 years of age. Very sweet, but has a very arthritic knee.

Blahnik and Rebel in Mesquite Manor...

Cecil, Elisa's one eyed Doxie, supervised and rode on the golf cart.

Wonderful job ladies! Scrappy just kills me, what a sweet old boy and I cannot believe he had a shoe on. So someone rode him like that? Unreal what people do.
Love them all, what beautiful horses. I can't wait to see them gain some weight. God Bless you all for what you do for animals.
