Monday

A hot and busy day...

Good news as Sanctuary horse, Clovis found a foster home in Sandy Valley. He is being fostered by Debbie as a companion to her horse who needed a friend. He left for his foster home this afternoon.

The Area 51 pasture. That is Stormy, Echo Echo behind her (legs only), Dayton and Skin Horse in her UV Sheet and hood. They all seem happy in their new pastures and all the horses are getting along and having fun together.

Sally dropped the bag of dog food into the new mud puddle by the feed room, of course, Salsa is right there. Coincidence, I think not!

Tanya sits and watches TC in the turn out. They are bonding and it looks like a great match.

Later in the morning, we noticed Image acting a bit colicy, just not himself. As we always worry with the older horses, we don't like to wait before getting them treated. Older ponies like Image are candidates for strangulating intestinal tumors and we were worried. So, we decided to load him up and drive him into the clinic. His Banamine made him feel better and we left him for the vets to treat after they were finished with a colicing foal. I will post an update as soon as I hear.

We also loaded Gummie member, Providence, into the trailer bound for the clinic. Providence was rescued years ago with a growth in his throat latch. It has not bothered him and the vets said to just let it be and watch it. But, over the past month he has developed another growth at the base of his windpipe which is affecting him. He's starting to lose weight and we decided it was time to get him in for a closer exam and possibly a biopsy.

We visited with Hoops and Domingo in the clinic. Hoops is recovering nicely from her head wound and is ready to come home. Domingo was x-rayed (he is so tiny that they could x-ray his whole abdomen). The vets found his belly is full of sand and dirt (Domingo likes to eat dirt we have noticed over the months in spite of attempts to stop him). He is being treated with IV Fluids to try to flush the sand out, it seems to be slowly working as he is starting to pass it out.

Sheriff decided he wanted to go along as well and hopped into the trailer as soon as the door was opened...

Wasabi was moved into Mesquite Manor where he happily settled down and had some breakfast...
Journey and Cedar went out for a ride...
