The Newest Arrival!

The blind Appaloosa mare arrived yesterday afternoon! Shiloh friend, Mikey, drove round trip from her home in AZ to pick her up at the auction yard in Idaho. Huge thanks to Mikey, and to ALL the horse lovers out there who followed this gentle mare's journey to her new life.

We have named her "Keller" after Helen Keller, who lived a life of dignity and purpose. Keller is settling into her new home and seems content. She will remain in Isolation for 30 days and then will be moved into either a bigger corral or small pasture where she can make friends and enjoy a good horse life.

Listening to her new surroundings...

Keller looks happy in her new home!

OH I'm so happy to see that!! She is such a nice mare, lovely manners, gentle disposition. Someone trained her well at some point in her life.

I know she was tired from that trip, it was a long one. I still feel like I'm in the truck.

I'm so glad this all came together. God Bless you all at Shiloh for taking her in and giving her a place to be in her later years. I know she'll be happy and loved there.

You can count on me supporting Shiloh Rescue for years to come!

Love a happy ending :)

Aww! She does look relaxed! I just love this whole story - from the time she came to the auction, this mare has had a lot of people care about her and how they worked together is so neat!

Great job, all you big hearted horse lovers! What a lovely story- and what a perfect name for this little mare! By the way, I keep forgetting to post this- when we 'carroters' were leaving, Patti stood outside while we pulled the car through the gate, and she noticed that there was something in the bin that is on the Shiloh welcome/rules sign. It was a notebook and pen or pencil- probably the one the lady couldn't find on Saturday for the class. I think her name was Katherine. Anyway- hope she finds her notebook. Hope all have a good week- I'm SURE Keller will!

Hi! I started off my blog browsing by searching for people who lived in my state of Pennsylvania. I found a horse lover who was part of a group of people who were trying to help "Keller." I followed her story all the way to you in NV! A long journey when I was just trying to stay around Pittsburgh. I also enjoyed seeing the pictures of the wild horses. We went to Outer Banks, NC and I wanted to see the wild horses so badly, but my friend's family didn't want to venture into the wilderness without a bathroom. Afterall, they "aren't much to see." I think they are beautiful and so special. Have a great day.
