A Muddy Thursday...

A Reminder: Shiloh will be closed to Visitors and Volunteers from Friday, Jan 29th until Monday, Feb 1st. Thank you!

Volunteer Needed! We are looking for someone who can pick up a 28' Fifth Wheel Travel Trailer (in good condition) on the South side of Las Vegas and bring it out to Shiloh. Shiloh can reimburse for gas! If you have a truck that has a goose neck hitch, and are interested in helping out, please email Jill at shilohhorse@aol.com for more info. Thank you! :o)

Well, it started out as a very foggy and wet day at Shiloh, but once the sun came out, things warmed up and all the horses enjoyed the sun.

The fog in Sandy Valley on the drive in. It was so thick...
Okay Corral this morning...
The fog was so weird!

Look at that mud!!

Echo Echo just looked out of his barn stall and said, "No Way!"

BB and Nevada have a high ground area that is dry, but we moved them temporarily to another Medical Stall that was drier.

Sitka wandered on the Cherry Pie grass...

And then stole Donkey Otie's feed.

Jackson had gotten stuck down in the mud early this morning and the guys had to get him up. He, and his blanket, were completely covered in mud. We had to clean him off, he was miserable. Sally, Sharil and Tanya worked on him. Poor Jackson, his Shivers (a progressive neurological problem) has really gotten worse over the past week. The deep sticky mud doesn't help, but he is now having problems with his front legs. We will have him evaluated by the vet on Tuesday...

I know he still looks muddy- but he will have to wait for a little bit warmer day this weekend to really get cleaned up. At least he is now dry with a warm blanket and doesn't have to walk much to get to food and water. We moved him from Little Vacation Village into the Duplex next door with Mendoza. We were going to move him into the barn- but he is so unhappy when he is away from his old friends. This way he is in a drier pen and can still see and touch his herd mates. We will be watching him closely over the weekend.

Over in the Hospice area, Hutch was groomed by volunteer Helga...

Jerome in his corral.

Sharil and her dog Max spent some time with Jerome. Max and Jerome match...

Jimmy Dean refused to go out in the mud, he preferred to nap in Echo Echo's barn stall.
Tanya and Calamity.

The Mare Motel and Hospice horses were turned out.

Hawkeye waited for his pal, Sully, to join him in the turn out...

And then they headed off together to roll in the mud. That's Gentry with them.

Gentry and his best friend, Truce had some fun!
