UPDATES for Saturday Evening

Chief is about the same, and is up and standing. This is a good sign for him and we are hoping that we will be able to bring him home to Shiloh next week. If the decision has to be made to put him to sleep, we really want him at Shiloh for that if possible... But, for now, we are thinking positively...

Dude is passing manure and seems happy. His impaction is still there but, hopefully, getting smaller with the treatments.

Everything else is good at the ranch, no emergencies for now!

Some sad news as adopted horse, Angus had to be put to sleep yesterday. He had a cancerous growth in his eye that his family and the vet have been aware of and were watching and treating, but sadly, his cancer had spread and he was having intestinal pain. His family made the difficult decision to euthanise him, which is very devastating to his young owner, Alyssa. Angus was well loved and cared for in his home and we are so thankful that they adopted this special little horse. Our thoughts go out to his family and to Angus tonight...

I am so sorry to hear about Angus. I remember when Alyssa came to pick him up and take him to his new home. What a cool little guy and at least he enjoyed the last days of his life with such a wonderful family!

Thank you for your kind words. It was hard not hearing him yelling for food this morning. Angus, or Gus-Gus as he was called at our house, always had the little girls fussing over him at shows and usually had two girls bareback walking around the arena grounds during breaks. He was very well loved and will be missed greatly. Thank you to Shiloh and all the volunteers that helped save him. He was a great horse and the love of a little girls life.
