Weds

CHIEF UPDATE: Sadly, Chief has taken a turn for the worse, after yesterdays' great update we all got our hopes up. But, by this morning, his last batch of steroids have worn off and he is back to having a hard time getting up and toppling over. His pain has come back and his attitude is more subdued. We are putting him back on steroids (but he can't stay on them forever) and seeing how he does over the next 24 hours. Chief has been in the clinic for almost one month and has had intensive daily care. We are doing all we can for him, but there is a real possibility that his spinal cord injury will not ever heal enough to give him a quality of life. We are very sad about this turn, we all just really want him to come home to Shiloh, but we are not sure it is going to be possible. Please have a thought for Chief tonight...

Meanwhile back at Shiloh:

The horses from the vet testing (Stormy, Pablo, Aiken, and Roy) returned home and Providence, Sundance, Waco, and Dayton were picked up for March's test. Charlie wanted to go along and hopped into the hauler's trailer...
Sally lets Roy go out into Big Vacation Village...

Bacon Bits now uses the dog door and goes into the office to eat the dog food...

Trigger had his hooves trimmed...

We moved Navajo in with White Cloud and it looks like a good match. Navajo is going blind and just can't find where he belongs. Looks like fast friends! Here they share the Equine Senior bucket...

Tumbleweed enjoyed the warm sun in her outdoor run. We don't think she got this thin in the desert, we think she was starved before she was dumped. She is very weak and could not find food or water out there in this condition and would have quickly died. She does not have the energy to wander very far...

Tanya hoses of Bombay on the washrack...

Will goes for a walk with a Shiloh volunteer...
And then he stood for some spoiling and grooming. He is such a sweet little guy who will make someone an excellent horse.

We have been fixing up the new Medical Area, here are two of the newly roofed enclosures. This is really going to be a great area for us when it is finished.Another view.

Sharil spends a minute with Tumbleweed...

Wanderers Charlie, Cortez, Concho, and Latigo enjoy the sun...

Sally fell on the gravel and cut up her hands during the great dog and cat chase! Poor Sally! It's not easy being Shiloh's Barn Manager...

Fallon Auction Horses UPDATE: Wasabi and Domingo are patiently awaiting their gelding day on April 1st. They are both pretty studdy and are up in the front area. Wasabi, the paint, has really filled out and is feeling and looking good. Woody, Bombay, Black Feather, and Dude are in the Hospice area gaining weight, while Rugrat is in the Mare Motel. Rocky Road, the three year old gelding, returned to Shiloh this morning from his adoptive home. It just didn't work out and Shiloh offers a 30 day money back on all the horses. As much as the family liked him, once they got him home, he just wasn't a good fit for them. Sometimes the best way to tell this is by having the horse at your home for a while. I will update these horses with more photos next week.

Chief, We will do what ever is best for you. I know that it has been a long and tough struggle. Please come home..

Sally, in between the horses and the hard work at the ranch, its nice to know that we can all have a good laugh. Sorry that it has to be on your account!!! I just see you fall and Jilly yelling every dog name, even dogs that were not even at the ranch today!!! Hahahaha

thank you so much for this info and your hard work. sorry for the heartbreak. i am - and i dont know why - stunned that someone dumped a starving horse in the desert near shiloh. why not call shiloh 6 mos ago and ask for help? why not put a bullet in her head and out of her misery? but let her starve to that condition and dump her like a piece of garbage? i will never understand.
