Chief and Dude UPDATE

Well, Chief improved again overnight due to the newest course of steroids. So, we are going to try to find the lowest dose that he can be on for an extended length of time and hope for the best. He cannot be on them forever obviously, but maybe they will buy us more time so something can heal. So, for now, he is holding his own.

Dude has an impaction and we have started him on IV fluids to get things moving. He is surprisingly happy and they have not had to give him more then his initial Banamine dose that he was given at Shiloh before the trailer ride to the clinic. We are going to be aggressive from the start, and he has passed some manure, but no oil yet. So, for now, Dude is hanging in there.

What a day...

Sally and I arrived in Chicago safe and sound. I will update again tomorrow!

Crikey, you've been getting it all this week, haven't you? My thoughts are with Chief and I REALLY hope he pulls through.

I will keep Chief and Dude in my prayers, as well as you and Sally. The picture of Mayflower spray painted at the feedlot was a shock. The inhumanity of man is overcome only by all the good that you all do at Shiloh. Even with all her intestinal problems, Mayflower had the last part of her life in a good and loving place. Thank you.
