Tuesday

A beautiful day, warm and clear. It's cold in the morning, but really warms up. This is one of the best times of the year in the desert...

Sunday was in high spirits!

Look at him go!

Afterward, he took a nap on his mom's breakfast...

It's not easy raising little Sunday! Sitka took a nap in her straw in the Bungalows.

Beau was bathed after his work out...

Crusoe, the weanling Haflinger has settled into the rescue. He is super cute! Once he is gelded, he will be looking for his new home...

But, it wasn't all smooth sailing. After all, we are a rescue and you just never know what is going to happen from day to day. In the early afternoon, Reason suddenly coliced. She was very painful, very quickly. We made the decision to bring her into Vegas to see the vet. So, we administered Banamine and loaded her in the trailer. Dr. Ballard met us at Kathy's and treated her. We think it was a gas type colic, or the early onset of an impaction. She was given a rectal exam and then tubed with oil and water. She was much more comfortable after her treatment and she will be staying in town tonight. If all goes well, she will be back at Shiloh in the morning. The change in the weather always brings on colics in the Vegas valley. With the cooler weather at night, horses are drinking less.

Reason is tubed...
