Chief

Sad news as Chief has to be euthanised tonight at Desert Pines...

Over the past week, he developed laminitis in his one good hind leg (the one without the splint) and his coffin bone was starting to rotate. He was now in pain and was spending the last few days at the clinic laying down.

We are all devastated by this, we all wanted Chief to recover so badly. Dr. Schur told me that all of the girls in the clinic were crying as well, they have all become so attached to this special horse.

We just cannot have him suffer, he fought the good fight and he did not go softly into that goodnight. But, it is time to let him go, he is ready...

Chief will be returned to Shiloh where he will be buried. I chose as his grave the area in front of the Wanderer's shelters where Chief spent many happy days over the years playing and hanging out with his friends.

He will always be with us at Shiloh.
