Sad news as we had to make the hard decision to have Sanctuary horse, Tulsa euthanised in the vet clinic yesterday afternoon. Her leg problem was just getting worse in spite of treatment and affecting her quality of life...
Tulsa came to Shiloh many years ago with Degenerative Suspensory Ligament Disease in all four legs. But, she did well and lived a good horse life out in the pasture with her friends. A few months ago she somehow injured one of her tendons during the night. She was taken into the clinic where she was worked on and eventually equipped with a special shoe for support. She was able to make a pretty good recovery, but in the past few weeks her leg just began to go downhill. It began to cause her great pain (which we were no longer able to control) and affected her quality of life.
Tulsa was a real sweet little mare, always gentle and kind. She will be very missed.
Rest in Peace, Tulsa, we love you...
Tulsa just a few days ago in the Medical Unit...
In the Okay Corral last summer...
She was always with her friends...

All the living and breathing beings live a very good life at Shiloh! RIP Tulsa.
So sorry for your loss Jill. It's been rough lately. But as they tell me each time I lose one, you gave her a good life, and an easy passing. It's all any of us can hope for, and I'm sure she appreciated it. I found it helped to give hugs to my Inch's friends when she passed ....Casey
