News From Shiloh

A few months ago, our friends at Falcon Ridge Equine Rescue in San Diego, CA began the daunting process of rescuing one hundred Icelandic Ponies from a hoarding situation in CA. This is a HUGE undertaking for any rescue to take on, Falcon Ridge is a wonderful rescue and they need support to help these ponies. Shiloh is taking in ten Iceys who should be arriving at Shiloh in a week or so. Once they arrive and have been evaluated, we will be looking for loving foster and adoptive homes. As soon as they come in, I will take lots of photos and post them. These will be great project ponies, most are only halter broke...

Last night we used our Peaceful Ending Fund to help a colicing horse in Las Vegas. Dr. Schur and Shiloh were contacted by a very concerned neighbor who was trying to get the horse vet care. The owner would not pay to have the vet out but the horse was suffering with a possible twisted intestine. Using our Fund, we paid for the horse to be examined by Dr. Schur, who made the decision to have the horse brought into the clinic for more aggressive care. Sadly, by the time the filly arrived at the clinic, it was too late and she had to be humanly euthanised. The saddest part about this situation is that this horse was only a yearling and the neighbor had been calling Animal Control for months about the lack of care. Nothing was ever done. Thank you to everyone who has donated to our Peaceful Ending Fund, at least we could give her a chance and then a gentler end...

Now for some fun- look at these wonderful photos of Moonshine in his home in Oregon! Look how happy he looks (not to mention how cute!)...

What a good pony!
