Thursday

I just wanted to let you all know that Shiloh received an incredible donation from Kirk Kerkorian's Lincy Foundation. Kirk, a friend of Jill and Tony's and an incredibly generous man, called up out of the blue and told us about his donation idea. He had horses growing up and loves them and wanted to do something to help horses in need. His generosity has relieved a huge burden off of our precious resources for 2009, which will allow us to save many more horses this coming year. See other Foundations/Companies who have donated to Shiloh.

Well, today started off normally, it was beautiful out at the ranch and all looked great. Then we noticed Blessing acting a bit weird. She was acting a little colicy two weeks ago and we treated her at Shiloh and she made a fast recovery. But today she was doing the same thing again, laying quietly, getting up and then going down again. So, because of her advanced age (approx 26 years), we gave her a dose of Banamine and took her into town to meet the vet. It looks like the long trailer ride helped her out, as she stepped off the trailer feeling fine. Dr. Dorenkamp did an rectal exam and checked her out, but she looked normal. He went ahead and tubed her with oil and water just to be safe. Blessing will stay in town tonight and go back out to Shiloh in the morning.

Again, never make plans for the day if you do rescue!

Snug in her corral, feeling better and drinking water.

More news as adopted horse, Cedar, returned to Shiloh today due to financial difficulties in her adoptive home. Cedar was really well loved and cared for and looks great. It was difficult for her adopter to bring her back, but she knows we will work hard to find her another good home.

Cedar got loose by opening her corral gate and had a great time running around the ranch. Sharil leads her back...
