Early Morning at Shiloh...

Happy news as Dean and Kelly officially adopted NASDAQ today! They have loved him and sponsored him for a long time and now they are together as a family! We are all very happy with the match. Congrats!

More good news as Convoy has a very nice family who is looking at him for possible adoption. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

The Hickey's were out super early this morning and took some great photos:

The sunrise...

Still sleeping...

Dave fixes the well with the help of Margarita and Salsa (of course)...

Already waiting at the feed room!
More sunrise...

Coming up over the pastures...

It's beautiful.

Daisy gets some early morning feed...

So does Flower...

Shaggy too!

A nice shot of Amiga and Lucero in their barn stall in the sunlight...

Another video of yesterday's horrible windstorm!

First of all- BIG THANKS to the Hickey Family for hosting Sitka's Yardsale yesterday. ALthough it turned out to be a horrible day to have a yard sale with the windy weather, they still raised $254.00 for Sitka's Fund. THANK YOU to everyone who helped and donated yard sale items!

We are lucky that no animal or person was hurt with this wind. There was just nothing anyone could do but try to get out of it. It actually lasted a couple of hours and now everything, including all of the horses, is covered with dirt.

Lucero

Here are two more pics of Lucero from Eric! Enjoy!

What a Day!

Guess who came to Shiloh this morning? Amiga's filly was born at 6am this morning! She is healthy and bright eyed, nursing and exploring! Loe and the guys named her "Lucero", a Spanish word which translates to "Bright Star" or "Morning Star". She is too cute!

Hey everyone!

Standing straight!

In a comfortable and deeply bedded barn stall...
now, where is the food again?

Amiga had a nice big breakfast. Good job, Amiga!

Sitka's Magic Leg. It even has her name on it. It's amazing. I almost have tears in my eyes typing this as I remember how she took right to the new leg and walked all around. She even got up and down a few times. It's incredible...

Trying it out...

The crowds came to see her...

Ronnie shows Sitka what to do!

Sunday wants one too!
Look how easily she can lay down.

Ronnie and Sitka- Her first walk on her new leg. She could never walk this fast with such long strides!

Now it's Belmont's turn. Ronnie very generously donated Belmont's leg to Shiloh! Belmont was rescued with an old fractured and crippled knee, he can get around, but he is slow and it causes him pain. We are hoping his new leg will redistribute his weight, allowing him to move freely and more comfortably. Looks like it is working!

It takes the weight off of his crippled knee...

He was happy with it!

Look at him go! He is so fast now!

Go Belmont!

Okay, then things got nuts out at the ranch! The wind kicked up and there was the WORST DUST STORM we have ever seen! You could hardly stand up in the wind and at times, you could not see a thing. We were blinded and finally we all took refuge in the Cherry Pie Lounge and the Barn aisle. It was crazy!
Watch this video of some of the storm!

From then on it was like a scene from Mad Max!

I think Dave is flying in the wind here!

Sally looking all Blade Runner Christmasie...

Eric looking like a desert rat!

But the most creative person was John who used clear tape to shield his eyes from the dust and sand!

Then he taped the clear cake plastic cover to his head! He was the only one who could go outside and see anything!

What a day!

Sitka's Story Online on HSUS!

Read Sitka's story on the Humane Society's website! She's famous, Go Sitka!

Blanket Time!

Well, it's officially freezing out at the rescue, it's getting down into the 30's at night. We spent most of Tuesday getting out blankets and putting them on. All of our old guys and horses with special needs are now wearing them. We have also set up a heater in the office with a dog door, so the ranch dogs all sleep in there on the dog couches where it's toasty warm.

Little Vacation Village and their blankets...

Booty

Sy, looking cute in his blanket.

Daisy and her "snasuage" blanket. She does not look amused.

The Gummies.

Pepperoni in her blanket...

But, the best idea we had was to try to get the pigs, Sonny and Cher to wear a blanket. They have many straw filled pig houses that they can go in, but we are always worried they are too cold. So we are trying to figure out how to make them a custom made blanket. Yes, we know we are weird, but we hate to have to worry about any of the animals. As usual, Pig Wrangler Sally, is on the case...
