Sweet Old Peso...

Some very sad news from the rescue today as sweet old gentle Peso was euthanised. He has been doing so well and gained so much weight and spirit since his arrival a few months ago, but his advanced age caught up to him and his time had come. This morning he was not feeling well and we had him rushed into the vet clinic with heavy hearts. They confirmed what we were afraid of, that his time had come and his body was shutting down. He was peacefully euthanized and passed very quickly and quietly...

Rest in peace, old friend. I miss you already.

Peso a few weeks ago...

His condition on the feedlot...

As much as we dread saying good bye to our older residents, we can be happy that they knew love and peace for the last days of their lives. This is some of the most important part of our rescue work, but also some of the saddest.

But, even on sad days, Rescue goes on...

Some happy news as one of the newest arrivals, a Molly Mule, is quickly adopted out to her new home. Mindy has been looking for a Mule for a few months and she found her at Shiloh!

Lindsey Loham napping in the shade of the Mare Motel. She looks like a torpedo...

Gus and Eric also snoozed away in one of the turn outs...

Sitka, looking great after Elaine groomed her...

Fiesta had her hooves trimmed- she is so feisty for her age! Hold on Osbaldo!

Starsky enjoyed some grooming as well...

Blahnik, looking good out in the Okay Corral pasture.

Dayton and Daytona in Okay Corral.

We had Stitch scoped for stomach ulcers in the clinic yesterday. He was not feeling well lately and was losing weight. He does have ulcers and is now being treated with medication. We moved him into the peace and quiet of Mesquite Manor while he is treated...

We moved Sully and Hawkeye into the adjoining Mesquite Manor pen to keep Stitch company.

Poor Pippi is about to burst! She cannot go much longer and is super uncomfortable now. Maybe a baby tonight? We'll have to wait and see...

Vortex is going to burst as well!

Look how cute Sully looks!

Volunteer Norma groomed some of the Little Vacation Village horses, here she is working on Jerome...

Indio is looking great. Now, we can start working with her to find her a new home...

We will also begin evaluating Banjo for a new home. This is such a sweet guy!

Sandi, Daria and Robin groomed the Brat Pack...

New Arrival, Peace Pipe's condition. Poor guy!

Lexington, out in the Big Pasture...

The Big Pasture. A beautiful and very warm day.

This about Peso is really sad. But he had some fine weeeks on Shiloh.

And now, I'll keep all my fingers crossed for Pippi Longstockings and Vortex. I look every day on your blog and facebook if something new had happened!

So very sorry to hear about Peso's passing.

Thank you so much Jill for my daily "fix" of Shiloh pictures. I can hardly wait to visit again. Wish I had more room as I would adopt more of your horses.
Journey is doing wonderful. She is a wonderful horse! I can hardly wait for the new foals.
Glad you're back!
