Olympia's Shiloh Journey has come to an end...

Sanctaury Horse, Olympia, had to be euthanised in the vet clinic this evening. She showed colic signs this morning and was brought in, Dr. Schur thought she could feel either a growth or more likely an intestinal strangualtion. Olympia was watched for a few hours, but her heart rate began to climb up again and her signs were returning. We did not want her to be in pain so we made the decision to have her put down.

Looking back on her page, I had written this when she first arrived at Shiloh: 8/10/08 A man came to the ranch today with "this horse, and told the volunteers at Shiloh that he got this horse from a "tweaker" in Pahrump, and had to get rid of this horse." He also stated that "if we do not take the horse, he will dump it in the desert or shoot it. Either way, he was not going to be driving the horse back to Pahrump."

Olympia had a good horse life iduring her years at Shiloh- she lived in our pastures and was always surrounded by friends. The last few months she lived in our Super Gummie pen as her age was catching up and she was finding it more difficult to keep her weight on. She was happy right up to this morning, well loved and cared for.

Not long after her arrival... Later in her Shiloh journey...

Rest in peace, Olympia. We love you.

I am sorry that you lost Olympia, but the man who brought her to you, as vile as he sounded with his threats, did the right thing by her. She had the chance to enjoy several wonderful years and learn that people can be kind and loving. That says it all, in my book.

Olympia's early and later pictures show that she was well-loved and cared for in her last years. Thank you for your kindness to her and to all your animals.
