Tony at Shiloh

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.

Play, smile, think of me.
Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you.
For an interval.
Somewhere.
Very near.
Just around the corner.

All is well.

I am new to your site. A great photographic tribute to Tony. I got a real kick out of the pictures of him with "Flat Stanley." Our daughter lives in Henderson...we are back in Brockport, New York. But, when we visit, I want to find you.

Thank you for all that is done for the ponies.

Helga said: I love that poem. I think his spirit will be surrounding all of us when we continue his (our) work at Shiloh. Everytime we treat a horse with kindness and respect. Cleaning their wounds, and telling them we love them. His spirit will be smiling down at us...

Beautiful poem. I don't know if you will remember us, we brought a few loads of horses to you from Finger Lakes Race Track. We are so sorry to hear of Tony's passing. He was, is and always will be a great man. And his love will surround you always til your together again.

I quote one of Tony's lines from an episode of the Persuaders.
Two words.
Soo Poib.

(and, being English, my accent is as oddball as anyones!!!)
