Around the Ranch:
Twister and Vortex in Kinder Care...
Trigger wandering in the Barn aisle...
Toluca and Ember in Okay Corral...
Thursday was Vet Day:
We had Indio checked as she was acting a bit colicy that morning. She was tubed with oil and water and watched through out the day. By the end of the day she was passing manure normally and by Friday morning she was passing oil.
We had Cowboy x-rayed. Dr. Schur found some ligament damage in his hip area which is causing his lameness. He is on stall rest for 30 days and then he should be able to go back out into a pasture where he can enjoy a good horse life...
We had Image checked, he is starting to lose weight and just doesn't feel like himself. The x-ray showed more sand in his intestine and he does have a significant heart murmur. He is on another special feed now to try to clear the sand out and he will be rechecked in a month or so.
We had Peace Pipe checked as he is just not gaining weight and seems so depressed. Dr. Schur suspects a low grade infection from his horrible castration procedure he had before his rescue. He is now on a strong antibiotic and was moved into the barn where he is close to us and where we can give him lots of attention.
She checked his teeth as well, his teeth were okay but he does have ulcers under his tongue. Dr. Schur also drew blood to check his liver function...
Marley, now renamed Helios by his adopter, Vic, was gelded. He did great and was feeling very good today.
Next up for Brain Surgery was the Curly colt, Sherlock...
He's down and dozing...
All of the day's volunteers gathered to watch- you never know what you are going to learn when you volunteer at Shiloh!
Meanwhile, Daria taught a Basic Horsemanship Class under City Center. (Left to right: Jet, Sage, Sy, Little Dude and Heavenly.)
A nice big group! The horses enjoy the attention as much as the students...
Old man, Sy, loved every minute of it!
So did Sally's Sage and Little Dude...

When we came in, we saw the horse laying down, and I was worried it was a sad moment, so I was VERY happy to know it was just "brain surgery" as you call it, haha! (Love that).
Hey, I forgot to ask you, what is the deal with the naked horse (appaloosa) who is in the same pasture with Avalon.......he is ADORABLE.......absolutely fell in love with him. Love the haircut as well!!! haaaaaaaaa!!!
Just wondered what the condition is, I have never seen it, but even naked, he was so gorgeous!
