Last night, about 11pm, Pippi Longstockings gave birth to a big healthy colt! He is strong, brave and adventourous already, even leaving his mom's side to explore his corral at under 12 hours of age! Pippi is a wonderful mother and is keeping a close eye on her foal...
We have named him Locksley. I just saw the film, Robin Hood, and Locksley's older brother is named Sherlock, so it just fits! There is also a Tennyson poem named, Locksley Hall, which according to Tennyson, is a poem "representing young life, its good side, its deficiences and its yearnings".
Here is a video of Locksey at 12 hours of age- look how strong he is...
Welcome little Guy!

Welcome to the world, Locksley. You have an AWESOME name. Can't wait to meet you.
WOW what a wonderful video, he looks so much older. Thanks for sharing it with all of us.
I'm so happy that everything went ok for Pippi. Foals are so entertaining, just doing "foal stuff". I could watch them all day long! I'm curious what Locksley will look like in a few weeks.
Good luck for the other mare and baby!
