Here are some photos from Tuesday's activities at the rescue...
We moved the Isolation horses into our far Isolation pasture area so that they have more room to move around and can be together. Left to right: Carefree, Tamale (the Burro), Gomez and Latilla.
The big TB mare, Carefree, is really a nice horse and as she played around in the bigger area, she looks like a very nice mover as well...
The babies were turned out in the big turn outs yesterday morning. They have access to the Kinder Care turn out, but we wanted them to have a change of scenery. Here is Breeze and Brisa heading over...
Over in the Chicken Coop, we had a problem. This little rooster got stuck in a hole that it dug into a straw bale. With the chickens, we don't ask why, we just fix it. Once the top bale was lifted up, he popped right up and went on his merry chicken way...
Eagle and Echo Echo eating their Feed Fairy feed in Mesquite Manor. I love this pen...
Once the Isolation horses were moved and situated, we headed back over to the rescue side of the ranch and who did we see? Tamale! He must have gone through the bars of the pipe fence. I guess he saw Margarita and Taco and just couldn't help himself. But, since he is still supposed to be Isolated and because he is not yet gelded, back he went, this time into a more secure single pen. We will be having him gelded within the month. Good Try, Tamale!
A cute photo of adopted horse, Fortune. Fortune was born at Shiloh to a feedlot mare many years ago and has never left. Fortune had to undergo colic surgery at just a few weeks of age and spent her first week in the vet clinic where she was treated for a very bad case Meningitis. Her mother was in horrible shape when she was rescued and gave birth soon after arriving at Shiloh. But after two very close calls, Fortune gradually gained her health and thrived. She was happily adopted by Yvonne and is turning out to be a wonderful big horse. She is still called Baby Fortune, but she isn't a baby anymore!
