Well, it's been a very busy week, sorry I haven't posted much. Sally and I were in our Horse Welfare Conference and then I came down with the flu. But, it's back to work!
Homes for Horses Conference- Sally and I, along with Jo Deibel from Angel Acres in PA, had a wonderful time and everyone learned alot from each other. Shiloh joined at least fifty rescues from all across the country at this annual event which is put on by the HSUS and AWI. We were updated on horse welfare legislation, listened to guest speakers and discussed different techniques and issues facing horse rescues. It's so great to hear from and talk with other legitimate rescuers who are working hard in their communities and states. All of the rescues who were invited are working to help the HSUS and AWI set standards for rescues with guidelines for proper care, feeding, facilities, etc. Special thanks to Montana Horse Rescue for their incredible work on the proposed slaughter facility in Montana.
Sad news from Shiloh as Slew, our old goat passed away sometime on Friday night and was found laying peacefully in a favorite spot in the Gummie pen right by the feeder. He would always lay next to feeders to eat all of the dropped Equine Senior. Slew, who was a favorite Shiloh goat, was very old and crippled, but he lived out his days at Shiloh in comfort and friendship. We will miss his sweet face...
Slew, along with Trigger and Bacon Bits, waits for White Cloud to drop some feed...
Still waiting...
Off exploring...
We are getting our applications ready for Cheyenne and Inspirada for the Parelli Celebration in Reno next month. One of these mares will be used in their event...
Chief returned to Shiloh yesterday afternoon, but I was sick and was not there to take photos. I should be getting some later today and I will post his update. He is happy to be home and has spent the morning allowing visitors to see him. Trigger, Charlie, Margarita, and Fred have already welcomed him back...
