Some sad news as Rebel, a Sanctuary horse, passed away last night. He was currently living in Mesquite Manor with his friend Blahnik and both were up and eating hay last evening. This morning he was found lying in his favorite resting spot under the Mesquite trees. It looks like he was already laying down when he passed and there was very little sign of a struggle. Rebel is buried at Shiloh, not far from Mesquite Manor. Rest in peace old guy...
Wanderers Concho, Latigo, and Cortez lay in the deep sand to stay out of the wind. It's hard to not see Chief there with his buddies, that is his little herd...
New Arrival, City Slicker is doing much better. His wounds are healing, although he is still on antibiotics. He is a very sweet gelding who just needs to gain some weight and he will make an excellent riding horse.
Happily, we were able to move some of the Dreamchaser horses out of the Mare Motel. Sweetie (pictured above, DCR "Brandy"), Valentine, and Lovely are now in the Fear Factor pen with Ketchum. They have all gained enough weight that they can move into a herd situation to continue their rehabs. Sweetie has really filled out.
Valentine (DCR "Dolly") looking better and happy...
Look at Mr. Studly, Levi. He has really begun to fill out, his hip bones are much less pointy. By the way, Dreamchasers told Shiloh that he was fat when he was picked up from their place, and that he must have lost his weight on the hour long trailer ride to Shiloh. Hmmmm...
Here is a video of Levi today- look how studdy he is. Dreamchasers told us that he was used for Pony Rides with kids- now that would be the last pony ride your child would ever take! The only reason we can even handle him is because he is so tiny- if he were a large horse, forget it! (Please ignore his horrible mane haircut, I gave that to him. He was so bad it was hard to do! I will fix it.) Tomorrow is his gelding day, so that should give him a change of attitude!
Cloud and his best buddy, Slew the goat eating some lunch. Cloud will eventually move into the Gummie Pen.

Wow all look great, I will have some new guy to toy with when we are cubing on the weekends . Do you think that we could sell a dvd called( loose weight in a hour ) trailer ride from Pahrump If it was true we would make Millions !!!!
What wonderful pictures!Levi is a little pistol. He does need to be gelded.I can't believe he was used for kids pony rides in the condition he was in...lost weight on the ride to Shiloh? I agree with 'the 4 D's', if you make that DVD I want one, or better yet a ride in the trailer to lose some weight!LOL
Death is always a sad moment.Shiloh's sanctuary for these horses will experience more passings than any other place but the alternative to HOW they could have died is not acceptable...this is definitely more desired!
Here they enjoy being a retired horse, spoiled by volunteers, abundant food, water, love, caring for,vet care, etc surrounded by their herd mates and when their time comes dying peacefully in their sleep.I hope to pass in that way.Rest in peace Rebel!
Look out Jill...Ghia has it out for you...smile
Remember all the great GOOD you do, have done and will continue to do for all these guys and those yet still to cross the Shiloh's gates, with much respect, Mary.
I am so sad about Rebel. Levi is a bit full of himself! He will be a cute gelding soon! All the other guys you got from Dreamchaser are looking better and better. Keep up the good work!
