Sad news as Stardust was euthanised yesterday in the vet clinic. Her Shiloh Journey is over...
One week ago she had suffered a sudden stroke in her pasture and we have been treating her with steroids and supportive care to try to nurse her through it. She seemed like she was doing okay, she was eating and drinking, but was very wobbly on her feet. But, on Tuesday night she must have had another stroke and she was found down in her outdoor run of her barn stall, unable to get up. Tonya and the guys physically pulled her into the horse trailer using a blanket as a sled so we could get her into the clinic. Our vets could not come out and she just could not get up.
Once in the clinic, we made the decision to put her to sleep. She passed quickly and quietly.
Stardust was a gentle big older TB mare who had been rescued off of the Fallon Feedlot in May 2007. She had a good horse life at Shiloh.
Rest in Peace, Stardust.

That is so sad. I'm glad you were able to get Stardust euthed anyway, much better than laying there suffering. I know you did everything possible for that horse (as you do all of them) and God Bless you for being there. Stardust will be waiting in heaven, in greener pastures. Hugs coming your way.
