Monday

A hot and humid day today, it didn't rain at the ranch but it looked like it was going to. It was so muggy that it was hard to get motivated to get any work done.

We had some more adoptions the last few days. Steal was adopted by one of Shiloh's rider's, Sabine. Music also found her new home and left last Friday. We had a great family who has adopted from Shiloh in the past out today trying out Blackjack. It looked like a great match... We have added some Shiloh horses onto Dreamhorse.com to help them in their search for just the right home.

Larceny was added to the list of horses looking for their new homes. He is very friendly and level headed and is wonderful on trail. See the short video below of Elisa walking him around the ranch today.

Jill, Sally and Traveler will be heading to Washington, DC this coming weekend to attend the Homes for Horses Conference. This is a new group dedicated to horse welfare and standardizing rescues across the country. Unfortunately, all rescues are not what they seem on the internet, so please make sure you check out any rescue before you donate your hard earned money. There are some really wonderful rescues out there, all across the country working hard to save horses, just, make sure you do some homework. We will also be attending the New Holland Sale in PA next Monday. Of course, we will posting all about our trip from the road, or at least, Traveler will! I am sure Traveler will be very very busy...

Just to show you there is more to horse rescue than just horses, here is a video I think you all might enjoy, the great chicken escape! Some of the Shiloh chickens will peck you, so we are all afraid of them! They live in a coop because Spur, the ranch dog, is a master chicken catcher and killer. Sometimes when we go in the coop to feed and water them, some of the chickens escape. You can see it's not easy to get them back in, especially when you are afraid!

I really enjoyed watching the chicken roundup video. Knowing first hand how wily that "attack chicken" is! Sally are you selling eggs?

Now I know what to do with rakes out here in the desert- round up the chickens! I laughed out loud!!! I can see where you wouldn't want to be on their bad side...
