Birmingham, Day Two- What's so special about some old stones?

This morning, the girls woke me up bright and early. At breakfast, I heard them talking about some big stones we were going to go see. "Why do we have to drive to see a big pile of rocks? Isn't there somewhere better to go?"

Traveler had an Espresso to get him going...

Then it was off to the car for the two hour drive. Traveler helped navigate the "round abouts"...

It was cold and rainy. "This would have been a good day to stay home in bed!"

"Can't we stop there to see the flowers?" The rain stopped, the sun appeared, and so did the big pile of rocks.

"What's all the fuss about anyway?"

"Whoa- is that real?"
"Who put these here? How did they do it? Why did they do it? This site is 5,000 years old!"

"It started with these banks and ditches. The banks are called Henges..."

"These stones were moved from 240 miles away and some weigh 5 tons! This is unbelievable!"

"Sally let me listen in on her audio tour..."

"After which, I told Jill all about it..."

"This is called the Slaughter Stone where some believe they performed sacrifices! The girls held me tight here."

"The Altar Stone is inside the circle..."

"Hey you dirty sheep, have you no respect for this sacred prehistoric monument?""That goes for you too, you Bloody Blokes, can't you read? It says to stay behind the ropes! Give way immediately!" "Good-bye Stonehenge, thanks for the memories..."
"Truly a sight to behold. Jill and Sally were right- this was worth it!

Tired out from his adventure, Traveler takes a lie down...

And dreams of the adventures to come...
