Riding Lessons and Basic Horsemanship Classes at Shiloh

Now that I have moved out to ranch, I have much more free time which has been wonderful. So, I am now teaching some of the Basic Horsemanship Classes as well as offering more riding lessons. I am now able to begin implementing some ideas that I have had for years for the rescue- we are going to new and improved in 2012!

The Basic Horsemanship Class is a wonderful tool for new Shiloh volunteers or for anyone who wants to work around horses but doesn't know exactly what to do. Learn how to safely halter and lead a horse, how to groom correctly and how to work safely around horses. A great refresher for rusty horse lovers! Classes are $15.00 per person and last approx 45 minutes. Classes can be scheduled on weekdays as well as weekends- morning or afternoon classes available. Click here for more information.

Want to actually get up and into the saddle? Why not take a lesson on a Shiloh Horse? I am offering riding lesson for all ages and levels. Just need a few lessons to gain confidence or to just get back into the swing of things? Maybe you are looking to eventually get a horse of your own and want to gain some knowledge before making the commitment? I am also working on a new upcoming guided trail riding program using Shiloh Horses. We will be offering one hour trail rides out from the ranch- coming this spring and summer! More info to come!

A windy and cloudy day today. It is supposed to rain all weekend...

I finally have internet service in my new home so I should be back blogging and posting on a regular basis again...

Some good news as Laguna was happily adopted to a new home in CA and Mustang Iceman has a pending adoption...

I will be posting under saddle videos of Breeze and Nike in the next few days.

A windy Tuesday morning...

Looks like we are in for another windy day at the ranch...

We were up early to feed and do some chores before Sally and I had to head into town for a few hours. All the animals are quiet this morning, there aren't any emergencies and everyone is enjoying their breakfast.

Bonnie, our new Shiloh rider, was out early too working with Iceman and Breeze. Both horses are doing well and getting lots of trail experience. I am working on taking under saddle videos of both horses. Breeze has gotten over her problem with contact and now goes happily in a Hackamore...

The Weekend...

First off some sad news from Shiloh as Sanctuary Horse, Ice had to be euthanized in the vet clinic on Saturday afternoon. Ice, a 28 year old Arabian gelding, began showing low grade colic signs and in the clinic he was diagnosed as having an Enterolith, an intestinal stone. Because surgery is the only treatment for a stone, we had to make the sad decision to have him put down. Rest in peace, Ice...

Even though we had this sadness, it was still a busy and beautiful weekend at Shiloh. We had lots of visitors and volunteers out, there were riding lessons and basic horsemanship classes given and many boarders were out enjoying their horses and the warm sunny weather.

I still haven't gotten Internet set up in our new homes, so I am still using Blogger. So, I am unable to put captions under the following photos to help identify the horses in the photos- sorry! Hopefully I will have Internet access this coming week...
