Dia de Los Puercos
Last Tuesday was the Day of the Pigs at Shiloh. All of the guys got together to trim the Shiloh pigs' hooves. There was lots of running, catching, squealing and laughing. Trimming pig hooves is in no way an easy job!
First, the pigs have to be caught. Felipe had to go into the pig houses and pull them out...
Arturo supervised...
Sonny was up first. He looks quiet in this photo but all the pigs squeal incredibly loud the entire time they are being trimmed!
Next up, Cher...
It took all the guys; Felipe, Todd, Arturo and Diego...
Four strong guys, one pig.
Felipe worked quickly with the clippers while the other three guys held the pigs...
Dr. Schur was out working on some of the boarded horses so the guys caught Honey Boo Boo for a pregnancy check up. She lead the guys on a merry chase before they finally caught her by the Medical Units. We were concerned that she was possibly pregnant- but, thankfully, it is confirmed that she isn't!
We also had BLT's possible hernia examined. Dr. Schur doesn't know if it is a hernia or a big growth- but BLT, an older male, gets around just fine and seems happy as he wanders freely on the ranch- so we are just keeping an eye on him.
Todd and Sausage Patti
Jimmy Dean was last to be worked on. Of course he squealed the entire time!

Huge thank you to everyone at Design and Wine who raised almost $800.00 for the Shiloh Horses! We cannot thank you all enough!
Big thanks also to Deonna Hickey was took the reins from Shiloh and organized the day. Thank you to all our volunteers who helped out and a special thank you to Felipe who hauled the horses.
Make sure to checkout Design and Wine's website and learn how you can join the fun!

Photos from the rescue!
It's been a hectic few days at Shiloh, but the weather has been beautiful!
Happy news as Black Magic, a mare who recently returned to Shiloh from her adoptive home due to her owner's health issues, was quickly adopted by Shiloh volunteer Kendra. A great match for both Kendra and Black Magic...
Susan and Fortune were all smiles in their riding lesson...
Pocahontas, our wandering turkey, laid an egg right outside of the Barn door...
The Wanderers enjoyed their breakfast under a clear Nevada sky...
Our old guy Melvyn is looking great and enjoyed some grooming from a volunteer...
Slider was returned to Shiloh yesterday due to a change in his adoptive home...
Slider looks great and will be re-evaluated for adoption. He is a five year old Quarter Horse gelding who is broke to ride. He is friendly and personable, sound and healthy.

Find Your Furry Valentine Event
Shiloh attended the second annual "Find your Furry Valentine" event at the Bass Pro Shops/Silverton Casino yesterday. There was a really great turnout and it looks like all of the animal rescue booths received lots of attention.
Thank you to all our volunteers who helped us hand out information and talk about Shiloh.
Of course, huge thanks to our mini Shiloh Ambassadors, Florecita and Mojo, who stood patiently and allowed visitors to our booth to pet them and take photos.
Our table. Shiloh sold our beaded horseshoes...
As well as our Shiloh stuffed horses- these are Baja, Trigger and Trucker. Robin crochets these little guys and they are so incredibly cute!
We also sold crocheted Mojos and Florecitas, as well as our Florecita book...
Working hard!
Florecita...
Mojo...
There was a K9 police demonstration...
This was such a cool police dog!
Florecita looks a bit miffed that this Saint Bernard is the same size as her!
Lots of visitors to the event...
