Indy Under Saddle and Looking for a Home

Indy under saddle on 1/30/13. This super sweet approx 3 year old Quarter Horse gelding is now up for adoption. Adoption fee $500.00. A great little gelding with a very easy going attitude.

Weds at Shiloh

A beautiful and peaceful day at the rescue. The warm sun was able to dry up some of the mud from the recent rains...

Here is Indy, one of the geldings who was found dumped in the desert. He is coming three years old. He is very laid back and extremely sweet and kind. Even though he is young, he is obviously broke and has good manners under saddle. We are now putting him up for adoption to a new home. I am currently working on his under saddle video.

Honey Boo Boo. We now suspect she is pregnant. Honey Boo Boo was found a few months ago wandering in the valley...

Shiloh turkey, Pocahontas "helped" us worm the Gummies. This is such a weird turkey, she is continually in everyone else's business!

Wanderer Trucker...

Indy and Arturo riding around the property.

Angel, all covered up for warmth out in Okay Corral...

Wasabi...

Sandi, who recently lost her beloved Bucky Capone, is going to see how she fits with Wasabi. So far, it looks like a great match!

A Church Group and Saying Good-bye

Some sad news as we said goodbye to senior Sanctuary Horse, Tommy with an Eye. He passed away from natural causes early in the morning in his pasture while we comforted him. Tommy came to Shiloh in 2010 and lived a good horse life.

With 88 horses in the rescue, half of our population is over the age of 25. Almost half of those seniors are at, or pushing, 30 years of age. We hate to see our old friends pass on but it is part of what we do, we offer older horses a place to live out their days in comfort and friendship. And when it is time, we have learned to say goodbye and let them go on to Greener Pastures...

Later in the morning, we welcomed a large Church youth group for a tour and a Basic Horsemanship Class...

Everyone learned the basics of grooming. For the first time, little Wanderer Trucker was used in a class. He was excellent and stood very still enjoying the attention. Good guy, Trucker!

We used five horses; Graffiti, Trucker, Dulce, Hawkeye and Concho...

Graffiti always enjoys the grooming...

Trucker being worked on from both sides...

Wanderer Concho also loved the attention...

Sweet Dulce did too...

Hawkeye is often used in these types of classes and always has excellent manners...

Friday at Shiloh

Happy news as Sherlock, our young Curly gelding, was adopted to a new home today. He is such a cute little guy and we are glad he has a new family and future...

Some photos from Friday's activities. Enjoy!

Indy, one of the geldings who was found dumped in the desert last month, is really filling out. He has now begun to be worked with for adoption...

Muncie, the other gelding, is also doing very well. Both geldings have been moved out into the bungalows where they have more room to move around...

Wanderer Trucker snuck some feed from Graffiti and Melvyn. That is until I chased him away...

Arturo has begun to work with Cascade for adoption. She is a bit tense but is coming along...

Felipe and Osvaldo worked on Wild Child Apache's feet...

Trucker under CityCenter...

Jimmy Dean stayed warm by snuggling under his torn up old blanket in his barn stall.

Back at the Ranch...

It had been so cold out at the ranch over the last few days but today the weather was clear with blue skies and warm sun. Many of the animals spent the day laying down and soaking up the sun.
