Shiloh Showdown!

Donkey Otie!

Monday and Tuesday...

lots of photos from today and yesterday. Enjoy!

A meeting of minds. The Wanderers always meet but nothing ever seems to get done...

Another Mojo, the sneak thief, sighting! This time he was spotted eating Equine Senior in Assisted Living...

Jimmy Dean early this morning. We let the pigs have the really old and tattered horse blankets, they burrow under them and the straw to stay warm and comfy at night...

Getting into the Holiday Spirit, Sally and Felipe hung up lights on the Cherry Pie tree...

And on the Cherry Pie!

Later, Felipe rode his horse, Guapo...

Okay, so I had just dumped and refilled the Gummie Saloon water buckets when Vista came up for a drink. Now you can see how much food gets washed out of their mouths and into their water buckets! With little to no teeth in their mouths, the Gummies are continually gunking up their water which is why we dump it multiples time each day...

Next up for a drink was Gummie Laramie...

Brisa is really getting tall but she is now in her gawky stage!

A view of Assisted Living- that is Raz looking at the camera...

Thanks to Dave who helped me get videos of the babies. I am working on them and hopefully will have some up later tonight...

Save the Date- Shiloh Spring 2012 Rummage Sale!

We are planning a large spring 2012 rummage sale to benefit the Shiloh Horses!

The sale will be one day and will be held in town (Las Vegas or Henderson) somewhere (location to be determined).

So, we are looking for donated items to sell. We are starting early and planning ahead!

We will take just about anything (except large appliances): All clean and usable furniture, housewares, small appliances, lamps, music Cd's, hardware, tools, collectibles, antiques, decorative items, any and all clothing (must be cleaned), shoes, boots, bicycles. Even cars, trucks or motorcycles.

Questions, or to ask about dropping items off, please contact David at davidmaxgreenman@yahoo.com.

I will keep everyone posted as we work on the sale.

Saturday at Shiloh

So, I forgot my regular camera today and am using my iPhone for the following shots. Not sure how it will turn out but here it goes!

We moved the Brat Pack wooden shelter over near the Gummie Saloon. We created a new pen- the Gummie Bar- for our two special needs boarded horses. Now, they are out of the barn, together and can enjoy the daily action of the rescue...

Felipe pulled the shelter over...

Finished!

Donkey Otie...

Mojo now goes through the fence to get into each area to eat their Equine Senior! He slips right through the bars in the blink of an eye! He has been spotted in Assisted Living, the Blind Girl's pen, the duplex and Little Vacation Village...

Lots of Photos...

First off, Shiloh WILL BE OPEN to visitors and volunteers this Friday, Saturday and Sunday during our normal working hours, 8am until 1pm. So, come on out and work off some of your Thanksgiving dinner at Shiloh!

Some good news as little Jack has been happily adopted to a new family! He left today for his new home where he will be spoiled by little girls and a horse loving family...

Now some sad news as we had to have Valentine euthanised in the vet clinic this afternoon. She was down this morning and just didn't have the strength to hold herself up. We have been watching her closely for the past two weeks as we suspected that she had recently suffered a stroke. (Notice her loose lip in the above photo- she also had weakness in her hind legs.) She spent the last bit of time in our Barn where she wore a warm blanket and had as much food as she could eat. This morning, we knew her time had come and with help from everyone at Shiloh, we were finally able to get her up and into the horse trailer for the ride to the clinic. Val lived at Shiloh for the past three years and had a good horse life here. She enjoyed days out in the pastures with her herdmates and attention from staff and volunteers. Rest in peace, Val...

Rescue work continues as Pokie Dot returned to Shiloh from her adoptive home. Her family was having financial difficulty so Pokie came back. She is super cute (and fuzzy) and will be looking for another home soon. She is still shy with people and we will continue to work with her until she is re-adopted.

Pokie Dot only has one eye- we had her injured eye removed when she was originally rescued by Shiloh off of the Fallon Feedlot in 2009.

Sandi and Buckwheat Capone- a match made in Heaven!

This morning's Breakfast Club...

Gummie Saloon...

Nike is looking great. She is actually in training with a local trainer in Sandy Valley to help her get over her mounting issues. Once we feel she is ready, she will be looking for her new home.

Ranch dog, Spur, lounging in the heated Dog Villa...

Sully, looking warm in his blanket in Assisted Living...

Good friends, Eden and Bucky in Assisted Living...

More Okay Corral...

Young Slider is heading off to "school" with our local trainer. He just needs more work than we all have time to give him right now, so he is heading to the trainer's ranch. He will be back in a month or so, ready to find his new home. (He was recently adopted but his adoption fell through.)

Elisa is back at Shiloh for a few days and is riding some of the horses. Here she is with Cooper. It's so great to have Elisa back- we all missed her!

Jimmy Dean snoozing warmly in our donated straw...

Emily and her horse Dude had a great time riding around the ranch...

Lyfting and Aztec share some hay. Those of you who know Aztec, know that he ALWAYS has a hay stem in his mouth. He actually walks around Shiloh with one sideways in his mouth all day...

Jedermann enjoyed a nice roll in the sandy turn out...

Lark and Roy sharing our bigger Medical Unit. Both are recovering from leg wounds...

Over in Gummie Saloon, Canyon models a new line of blanket skirts...

While Angel the Skin Horse and Avalon enjoy their hay in Okay Corral...

Little Brisa is growing up!

Brisa and Trucker are now sharing a Bungalow and have become fast friends...

Huckleberry, our wandering mini mule, shows off his "interesting" front leg conformation...

My golfcart piled high with blankets...

My niece, Emily, spends some time with Cher over in the Pig Palace...

While Pigmalion snuggles down in his donated straw bedded pig house. It's really comfortable and snug in those pig houses!

The Blind Girls (GG, Idaho and Keller) enjoy their hay together...
