A Boiling Hot Saturday!

A super hot and muggy day with temps getting up to 111 degrees with lots of humidity. In spite of the intense heat, work goes on at the ranch...
Clouds over the pastures- they turned into thunder clouds but it didn't rain...

A good day to be a cloud...

Sonny and Cher cooled off in the pig mud hole. Of course, Mojo had to check it out too..

Trucker is growing into a very nice looking young guy!

His condition when he was found dumped out on the road last November...

His Magic Shoe...

You can read up on Trucker's Shiloh Story here.

A view of Assisted Living...
Poor Yvonne got so overheated working with Baby Fortune- she had to be hosed off on CityCenter!

Sally assigned Mojo, her medical assistant, to help care for Yvonne...

Unfortunately for Yvonne, he took his assignment very seriously...

Baby Spice is maturing into a nice filly...

She has come a long way since her rescue...

Her owner Vic has done amazing work with her and his other adopted horse, Helios (formerly Marley). Great job, Vic!

Jimmy Dean braved the heat by not doing anything...

Jedermann relaxed in his pasture after his morning workout...

While Katy took a mud dip to cool off...

Wanderer Trigger stole some hay out of the MASH Unit...

Daria and Jet on CityCenter...

Okay Corral...

CityCenter was the hub of activity...

Vet Day...

Tuesday was Vet Day at Shiloh.

Sadly, we did have to have Maverick euthanised. His Founder had just gotten too much for him and his quality of life was diminished. We all stayed with him as he passed in his comfortable corral. He was a special horse and will be missed.

We also had to have Sanctuary horse, Eureka, euthanised. His condition had deteriorated over the past few weeks and Dr. Schur thought maybe he was in kidney failure. He also was surrounded by his Shiloh family and passed very quickly.

Because we were at the rescue so early to get ready for the long day, I was able to see the pasture horses way back in the Mesquites. They sleep in the Mesquites and don't emerge from the trees until feeding time...
Big Pasture...

The Okay Corral horses eventually wandered out for breakfast...

Clovis returned to Shiloh from his foster home to have his skin cancer on his sheath treated. He will go back to his foster home in a few days...

Dr. Schur relived some of our goat Blossom's chronic "goat bloat" with a stomach tube...

Jerome and Gomez in the Gummie Saloon...

New Shiloh Rider, Cece, worked with Slider...

While Okay Corral enjoyed their hay...

Dr. Schur's two young daughters spent the day helping their mom and then bathing lots of horses. Here Bucky enjoys the attention...

Then it was Mojo's turn...

Then they moved on to Aztec...

Who immediately rolled in the dust afterwards...

Dr. Schur worked on Hawkeye's summer sore on his sheath...

Lucky Run, Okay Corral...

It was a long and tiring day- Chia Pet's look says it all!
